Securities
Gifts of appreciated stock or mutual funds can provide you with important tax advantages. There is no capital gains tax when you give appreciated securities that you have held for more than 18 months, plus you can receive an income tax deduction for part of the gift. It is recommended that you not give depreciated stock, as it will have a tax disadvantage to you; instead, sell stock worth less than when you bought it for a tax loss and then donate the proceeds to Stuart Hall.
To make a gift of securities, please contact the Business Office at 504-861-2136
Corporate Matching Gifts
Before making a gift to Stuart Hall, check with your employer to see if they will match a portion or all of your donation. This could allow you to double your gift to Stuart Hall, and may increase your Giving level.
We encourage you to consider supporting Stuart Hall in your will with a bequest or other type of testamentary gift. A popular way to continue your legacy, bequests are fully deductible for federal estate tax purposes (state inheritance taxes may also be reduced). There is no limit to the amount you may give, which can be incorporated in a bequest to Stuart Hall when your will is drafted, or is added later in a codicil. By remembering Stuart Hall in your will, your bequest can take a variety of forms, including:

"Nil Nisi Bonum", nothing if not for good. The spirit of your involvement is the foundation on which Stuart Hall School for Boys now thrives. Our school would be nothing if not for the goodness that the boys have received from the hours of service that mothers give to the school. Thanks to their dedication, Stuart Hall is celebrating 24 years of educating boys. As such we have established the "Nil Nisi Bonum" Scholarship fund in an effort to one day assist the financial needs of a student who exemplifies the Stuart Hall mission.
Proceeds for this scholarship fund have been raised through the Spirit of Stuart Hall Luncheon which has been held each fall since 2003, and honors former Stuart Hall mothers who have made extraordinary contributions of their time and talents for the good of the school. Only those mothers who no longer have a son at Stuart Hall are eligible for the award. Awards have been given to the following Alumni mothers:
| 2003 | Mary Sue Roniger and Betty Sullivan |
| 2004 | Karen Hall and Toots Villere |
| 2005 | Lori Bonin and Pam Weiser |
| 2006 | Anne Barnes and Margaret d'Hemecourt |
| 2007 | Anne Pappas and Lisa Zainey |
We hope you will join us as we celebrate 24 years of tradition and as we continue the tradition of honoring mothers of our alumni and building the "Nil Nisi Bonum" Scholarship Fund. Please contact the Development Office at 504-861-1954 for further details on giving to this most worthy fund or click on the "Donate Now" button to make a secure, online gift. Any and all contributions are welcomed.

An essential financial component of the Stuart Hall School for Boys is the Annual Giving Drive which begins in September and ends in May of the next year when all pledges are due. It is a Stuart Hall tradition for everyone in the school community to give generously according to his or her ability and resources. The members of our Board of Trustees are the first to give every year, setting the standard with 100% participation.
At Stuart Hall, faith, honor, leadership and scholarship, are its backbone and it is what we strive to ultimately instill in each boy who walks through our gates. However, the resources and tools we make available to provide students with an outstanding education are not in their hands, but in yours---parents, alumni, grandparents, friends, faculty, and alumni parents.
As an independent school, the cost of providing our highest-quality Stuart Hall education increases each year. Tuition defrays only a portion of our expenses. The gap between the tuition a family pays, and the actual cost of educating a student, is $925.00. This difference must be made up from other resources, such as Annual Giving. Augmenting tuition through charitable gifts allows the school to keep tuition at a competitive rate and provides many important programs and improvements that are essential to our mission.
We need your help to ensure that our students continue to receive the same remarkable opportunities that have made Stuart Hall so unique. Your generous contributions help us attract and retain a highly qualified staff of educators, provide financial aid, enhances our academic programs, maintains our campus facilities, and assists us in remaining current with integrated technology.
Please consider making a tax-deductible gift to the 2007-2008 Annual Giving Drive. We offer a number of means in which to make a donation, including, gifts of cash or through a gift of appreciated securities. To make a pledge simply download a copy of our pledge card and return it to Stuart Hall School in care of the Development Office or click on the "Donate Now" button and make a gift online.
